So Filter has their cover of The Turtles' "Happy Together" up on their myspace page:
Listen HereI know you'd never think in a million years that Filter could cover this song. But I like it. I like the samples and the loud/soft dynamic of it. Reminds me more of their older material than pretty much anything off of Anthems for the Damned did. This is going to be on the soundtrack for The Stepfather. New album is coming out next year, should be cool. Rich is talking a lot about using more samples again and heavier guitars.

I actually really like it. I didn't think I would. A much more depressing feeling to such a happy song. This is on par with me liking it just like the APC version of Imagine over the original.

Nice!!
I like when peppy songs like that can be made dark and melancholy and still work.

I liked the beginning of it when he was actually singing...
It's not terrible though. A lot better than some covers I've heard... Believe me, you haven't heard a bad cover until you've heard Manson do 'Come Together'... I did like the Aerosmith version though...
Why am I babbling about a Beatles song? I have no idea...
Back to Filter...
I'm more drawn to their older stuff (i.e. 'Hey Man Nice Shot').

I love the original, but I could definitely see Filter doing a good job on it. I will check it out later.

Surprisingly good!
Taking out the "pop" and making it much more melancholy really changes my interpretation of the song. It reminds me of the website GarfieldminusGarfield.net (which is worth checking out, by the way) which takes garfield out of all the Garfield cartoons, depicting Jon as a strange, pathetic, insane and depressed loser.
