So...I'm from Northeast Texas, where I have easy access to many venues, though most of them require at least a 3 hour drive, but it has never been a problem. I got my tickets for the Shreveport, LA show today, and this will be my 4th Hurt show in my 4th state. I've seen them here in good ol' Texas (Dallas at The Loft), Little Rock, AR at The Rev Room, Tulsa, OK at Cain's and now The Warehouse in Shreveport, LA. Anybody else hitting this show? I'm VERY unfamiliar with the area and could use any guidance on the area I can get.

Where did you get your tickets? I need to go ahead and get them, just to be sure.....
We are staying at the El Dorado Casino and will be walking up to the show. Seemed like the easiest plan for us. We are driving around 4½ hours and there's no way I'm driving back after the show. And we are going to stay an extra day and gamble a little bit.... one of the only ways I talked my wife into making the trip.

Feb. 9th '08. My friend and I were some of the first ones in the door and went straight up to the second level to get a drink and ended up staying up there because it seemed a lot more civilized than you crazy people against the stage. Overheard a large group next to us talking about being from the forum, but we were settled in and my post count was even lower than it is now, so I didn't bother to interject...though some bitch next to me a few minutes later was conversating to her boyfriend about all the earrings in my ears..hope you weren't that bitch. haha yeah it was a large group, and everybody seemed to know everybody else, so I kinda figured "meh, they'll just say 'hey, who the hell are you?!?'" We were up on the rail, had a GREAT view, especially of that retarded guy that started the fight and got thrown out right before Hurt took the stage.

I'm going to the Warehouse show, I missed last year's. Shreveport is my TOWN! I love that place. 'Course it helps it's only an hour drive from me, so my friends and I usually go there to get our tattoos and things. Also,w e really need some kind of identifying apparel identifiying us as boardies.

Good lord, I hadn't even considered the air miles. A an idea I had in a different thread, that I think applies here:
Wouldn't it be nice if it was like the Polyphonic Spree and everybody just followed the band around in a commune type setup but without all the freaky religious crap and wife-swapping.. yeah. That'd be great.

well yes of course they'd win but we could cumulate our cumulative miles as a group whole, going back to the polyphonic spree idea, for the fanbase as a whole, I can see the t-shirts now:
Concert tickets: $250K
Gallons of gas: 175K
Miles traveled to venues: 3 Million

Wow, I missed out on the conversation last night... damn Guitar Hero.
I should have known to check FrontGate tickets. That's where I got my tickets for the show in Fort Worth last year. I have a good account there buying all those Toadies tickets.
I will try to be sure to say hi to anyone at the Shreveport show. Just look for the huge fat dude (possibly bald, possibly mohawk).
Anyone know the specifics regarding cameras at the shows? Last year at Lola's someone was taking video with a regular camera and J. took it onstage and shot video of the crowd and close-ups of the instruments. It was an awesome time. I'm thinking of investing in a nice HD video camera and getting a good recording of the show, but I don't want to break any rules of the club or the band.

For the Warehouse show last year I bought two tix even though I didn't end up getting to go, there was a link to buy on the web. They have a myspace
www.myspace.com/theriversidewarehouse too, but their stuff about cameras isn't on there. I'd give them a call, it's 318-227-8041. The Toadies play there pretty often (I just love them. The Toadies were my first concert ever when I was 16 so many years ago) I think they're lined up for May 14 @ the Warehouse. That's so awesome, btw, that J. took a camera onstage with him. It's one of the best things about the band, the just seem really connected with the fanbase still.

The Toadies were my first concert as well, when I was 13. It's funny that you mention buying tickets and not using them. I had tickets for the last two Toadies shows in this area, and we ended up not going either time. The Dia de Los Toadies up at Possum Kingdom Lake was a great time.... I heard.... My wife didn't want to fight the crowds and drunks. We like to go have a good time without getting completely wasted, and those who do get wasted usually ruin it for everyone else. Too many times I've had to help escort those bastards out the doors. Sucks being big enough to be a bouncer (and not muscles.... hahaha)
I will check with the club and see what's going on with camera usage. I've taken my camcorder and SLR into several clubs in Fort Worth, but most of the clubowners and bands here know me, so it's cool. Hell, I've been asked by several local bands to shoot photography for them at shows, so it's usually no problem at all to take my camera in. However, if I was to buy a nice new HD Camcorder and then be told to give it up, I'd be a little perturbed. I'd love to get the show on camera and then post it on my site and share it with everyone.

I saw they were playing Possum Kingdom and I SO wanted to go. I was born in Fort Worth and when I was little we had the best times there. Plus ya know, Toadies @ Possum Kingdom, I'm not gonna lie, I'll not be a gentleman etc.
Yeah that would blow if you brought your nice SLR in and got it confiscated or not allowed in. I guess the best venues to try it would be the little places, since you could take it back outside to your car and not have to walk to the next county to get there, like the NOKIA or at one of the fests. I've only ever taken my little point and shoot, I went to a fest with someone who had press passes to bring their telephoto lens camera which was awesome, but also a pain because they had to keep up with a high dollar camera, etc, so it's kind of 50/50. Go to rock and not worry about it, or get less out of the show because you're shooting, but have the show on film.
